What Happens At Choir...

...gets blogged!!

My friend L.: Can you get that cute tuba player's number for me.

Me: His number is ***-****.

L.: Oh. Do you have something going with him already?

Me: Nope. I've got something going with his wife.

L. IS the tuba player's wife.

We got a good chuckle out of everyone around us.

I said to another friend, "I did some running yesterday."

She said, "On purpose?"

Why, yes. Yes I did run on purpose!!

Tuesday I ran around the block...twice!!

Before Christmas, hubs wanted to help me get into running. He told me what days to run for 10 or 12 minutes. The first day I went out, I thought I could run out for 5 minutes and turn around and run home from that point to make up my 10 minutes. I tried. I ran until I thought, 'Good grief! Has it not been 5 minutes yet!??! 'I quit running just shy of the 5 minute mark and walked home. Defeated. I only did this once or twice...then I gave up.

When we traveled to NC a few weeks ago, we were staying on a Marine base. These Marines work out like crazy. There was always someone jogging on a path they have to one side of the main road. I began to feel like a loser and dream of how I could be in better shape if I would run like they did. I told Donald about my wishes and he said we'd get started when we got home again.

The idea of this works out great until he goes on travel. Then I can't leave the house to run because there's no one with the kids. I just have to climb back onto my elliptical machine.

Hubs doesn't have another trip for about a month, so I want to run while he's here. He told me that twice around the block is about .91/mile. Tuesday morning was day one. I ran .91/mile in approx 10 minutes on the first day I tried!!! I ran two laps around the block and walked a third. I was SO proud of myself.

On Wednesday, I could hardly move! I woke up so sore...I didn't work out at all. Boo. Anytime I got still, I stiffened up. It was a painful day.

I will not be defeated!

Last night I went to bed saying, 'It's just to cold to run in the morning, I'll just do the elliptical.' I tossed and turned quite a bit last night and somewhere in there I decided that I'd bundle up and do it anyway. And I did!!! I did my second run this morning. I ran two laps...and considered attempting a third, but I just couldn't, so I walked it. But again, I ran two laps in about 10 minutes, without stopping!!! Yahoo!

I don't love to run. I didn't like running way back in high school when my softball/volleyball coach made me run. I didn't like all the running that comes with playing basketball. I didn't even like running the year that I tried Cross Country. What a bozo idea that was for someone who doesn't like running!!! But I was in shape...and I'd love to be there again!

I've got a long way to go to get comfortable running. My breathing is really weird...so I hope that as I get in better shape it will be less labored.

I'm not training to get into marathons or anything. I don't really know what my distance goal is.

I just thought maybe I could look like a Marine.

♥ I want to be a runner too! Even though i don't "enjoy" it. I always wanted to look cool running and have the body that went with it! As for now I'm on the eliptical! :)

I love to exercise but not running. I do sometimes run on the treadmill, but I do not like it.
Good Luck !!

So, you want to look like a Marine?
Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie comes to mind. I'm sure hubs wouldn't mind if you looked like her.

heh-heh...

But watch your knees with the running...it might be better if you bike.

Kudos to you for running. I absolutely abhor running, jogging or anything remotely connected. What's wrong with the elliptical? I love it and get a very good workout!

Keep it up...hang in there with it. I know it'll pay off for you.

Good for you! I don't like to run but I need to start! I just don't like feeling everything jiggling but I guess if I did it enough things would get firmer!

We should hook up. Is that okay to say these days? My kid can watch you kids and we can just go kill ourselves! Fun times!
