Celebrating Wedded Bliss

Tomorrow, August 2nd,  is my grandparents 55th wedding anniversary.

They have no idea how proud I am to say that I have someone in my family who has been married that long.

They have no idea how much I admire them.

They have no idea that I'd love to travel back in time to see the early days of their marriage.

Was it anything like mine?  How did they fight?  How did they goof off?

Did they have tickle fights, pillow fights and snowball fights?

Did Granny have hobbies, like I have scrapbooking, to do with her girlfriends?

Did Grand-daddy have card nights with the guys?

I'm sure they had stresses and hard times...

I would just love to know what it was like back then because now all I can see is love and respect

One thing I will never have to wonder about...

The reason for the success of their marriage is God.  Not some relationship book written by some PhD.  They had THE relationship book written by God through men.  They chose to put God first in their lives...both of them...and they have been truly blessed.

I'm striving for the same success in my marriage.

I'm so grateful for the example they have set.

I wish more families had a couple like them to look up to.

I love my grandparents.

I don't tell them enough.

Happy Anniversary, Granny and Grand-daddy, I love you!

What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.  Matthew 19:6

Want to encourage someone!?!?

Folks, this is a holiday weekend. A holiday meant to remember those who have sacrificed, or are sacrificing, for our wonderful country. This country has lots of issues...but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

We have lots of military families in our church. One is a family of six. The mother is Kristin; the father is Jeremy. He is currently serving in Iraq, while Kristin is at home with the children who she homeschools. Jeremy is sacrificing a year with his family to serve this nation. Jeremy posted his first blog entry today.

If you have a few minutes, go leave Jeremy, and maybe Kristin, a few encouraging words.

Have a great weekend!
Happy Memorial Day!

Several Things for Thursday

Hubs and I have donated blood for quite some time...since he has never had to take a break to be pregnant, he has given well over 3 gallons...I've only given a little over 1 gallon. It's a great thing to do; we know we're helping someone out there.

I've always wanted to do a little more. I am a registered organ donor, but since I have to die to do that, I'm left with wanting to do something I can do now.

You guys know that I keep up with Nate and Tricia at Confessions of A CF Husband...wonderful things are happening for that family. It's amazing! Anyway, the other day, Nate had a post about being a bone marrow donor. Donald and I have considered this in the past, but there are fees involved just to get on the registry. Nate's post told me that the fees to register are being waved in honor of Mother's Day. Yay!! I hopped right over to the
National Marrow Donor Program website and got registered. When hubs got home from work, he did the same. For free! We are waiting on information packets which will include the things we need to send in a tissue sample (a swab from the inside of a cheek) so we can be officially listed on the donor registry. How cool would it be to help someone in need?

The fees are being waved for the first 10,000 people to sign up until the 19th! Hurry, do it now!!

Yesterday I received some Good Mail from Brittany!

Thanks for the treats, Brittany! :)

And in the world of children, it has become routine to play a game of Wii bowling before the kids go to bed nearly every night.

We were playing last night. The kids go first, then me, then Donald. Donald begins his bowling. I'm not paying much attention, but I hear Ella say 'Dad, I'm sorry I made your hair gray.'

I'm rolling!

He does have many a few gray hairs...and I believe he has joked with her that she has caused them...but it turned out that this is not what she was referring to.

She made him do a makeover on his Wii character and he has gray hair.

OH! I see.

Give it 10 years, dear, and you'll really be making daddy's hair gray!!

Praising God in honor of Tricia

The lungs were found to be suitable for Tricia and she went into surgery last night. This morning, just over 8 hours of surgery later, she is out of surgery and will be in the ICU today. Praise God!! Please continue to pray for this family and Tricia's recovery.

Also, please pray for the donors family. They have lost their loved one to circumstances unknown to us. I can't imagine how they must feel...they were generous to comply with what must have been the donors wishes. May they find comfort in knowing that they've helped people through the donation(s).

Please join me...

I'm praying for this couple, Nate and Tricia, and their daughter Gwyneth.

I've mentioned them here before.

Gwyneth was born at just over 24 weeks gestations...she is nearly 3 months old now. Tricia has Cystic Fibrosis and is awaiting a new pair of lungs. Today is Nate's birthday...and they've been notified of a possible set of lungs for Tricia!! Their transplant team investigated some lungs just the other day, but they weren't suitable for Tricia.

I'm praying, if it's God's will, that these lungs will be for Tricia.

Will you join me?

Something Touching For Your Tuesday

My post today is a complete 180 from the silly post I wrote yesterday...which, by the way, sparked lots of comments...there's something to be said about our human commonality!!

I've been reading a very special blog for a while now...I can't remember exactly when I got hooked, but if you'll visit Confessions Of A CF Husband, you will be touched. It's the story of Nate and Tricia...and their new little girl, Gwyneth Rose. Nate is the author of the blog...he does a fantastic job sharing his perspective about what God is doing in their lives. One of the biggest miracles was the arrival of their daughter, born at just over 24 weeks gestation...and she is as healthy as she can possibly be (and nearly a month old)!!

One of my favorite posts from Nate is this one. What could be sweeter?

Nate's recent posts have been about the beginning of his romance with Tricia. Yesterday he wrote about the first time he ever saw her...he mentioned the date he thought it was and said that Tricia has always said he was wrong. After I read the post, I left a comment telling Nate that I was sorry, but Tricia was right. He said they met on August 5, 2000, a Sunday. I kindly told him that 8/5/00 was a Saturday, my wedding day. I felt a little bad about leaving a comment correcting him on HIS blog. Later, I checked his site again and looked over some of the other comments. Someone left a comment that the date was correct b/c it was also her anniversary. Well...I went back to the post and checked the date again. This time it said August 6th. Did I read it wrong before? Did I just correct this guy on HIS blog and I'm the wrong one? I felt like a heel. I deleted the first comment I left for him and wrote another comment givng a big fat apology.

Now get this! This morning, I ran across an email from Nate in my inbox!! He said that he went back and corrected his date after reading my first comment!! Holy Cow, I'm not crazy!! He said that he deleted my apology comment so people wouldn't think I was crazy...and now I don't feel so terrible!! I will do my best not to correct him again...it's not my place. Nate needs only to be concerned for the health of his girls, not some chick he doesn't know correcting his love story!

Please spend some time on Nate's blog and get to know this family...they would appreciate your prayers...and hey, leave a comment for Nate to let him know you're praying for him and his beauties.
