A Pictureful Post

We went to East Tennessee last week to visit two couples we cruised with last year. We knew it would be filled with laughs...and lots of noise since there would be nine children...and four grown male children.

Before we even got on the road good, we had an incident. I take pills for motion sickness. If I'm not the driver, I'm ill, unless I'm medicated. Sadly, Ella seems to have inherited this trait from me. We found something to give her, but getting her to take it isn't always easy. She got her pill down........

.....and just after we go onto I-40, she got her pill back up.

There's nothing like standing on the side of a busy interstate, holding the hair of your child while she ralphs in the grass. All I can say is Thank you, LORD that she told us what was about to happen...that would've made for a long, smelly ride the rest of the day.

She was fine after that...she even requested her biscuit. I think she just saw how much fun her brother was having with his...

"So mother, biscuits aren't the latest craze in hair treatments? That's what you think, woman...if only I had some of that Glue in my hair today..."
Our first full day in the mountains, we ventured over to Dollywood. It has been years since I've been there. All I could remember was show after show after show...and very few rides. I must say I was pleased that there seemed to be more to do this time. Rollercoasters are my thing...spinning/twisting rides, yeah, no thanks.
First up was a easy-going car ride with the kids...
"CHeedar" "CHoo CHoo" "CHeney" "CHurch" "CHunky"
"CHHHHHHeese!!, that's it"

What a serious driver. "Mom, when can I have the keys to the real car??!" When you are old enough to know that baby powdering your room is a bad idea, dear.

Good thing that car is on a track...woman driver. (did I say that out loud?!?)

She had the best time 'driving' her daddy around. Love this picture of the two of them.

And those nine children that I mentioned we'd have all together?

Watch the group grow as they finished their ride...

They make the best faces...these pictures crack me up!

Have you noticed that my kids are the ones with their mouths full?? Hmm...I think I starved them that morning so I could spend tons of money on Dollywood's food. Yea, that was my goal for the day. Break the bank at Dolly's...nah. I packed a bag of goodies for them to share. Don't the look like they're sharing?!?! Yes!??! Boo. They're not. Snooze ya lose, guys.

More to come...

How fun!! I've gotta say, we've never been to Dollywood. The old liberty land, yes, but not Dollywood. Hub says he wants to go before he dies though. LOL

I'm with you on the car sick thing...It's awful!

I'm sorry Ella got sick.:(

I love the pictures....Especially Ella driving her daddy....You need to keep that one handy, and when she turns 16 and is doing the "real thing" with daddy, you can frame them side by side. It will be interesting to see if in the future picture your husband's face will be as relaxed.:)

Hailey has the motion sickness genes. She used to get these headaches, which we later learned were migraines, and then suddenly throw up. Then she would be okay for a while. We used to carry zip lock bags in the car lined with paper towels for the longest time, just for her.
But for the best "medicated for motion sickness" story, Chris has us all beat. She'll have to let you in on that one, though.

Don't you wish ALL the roads they drive on would have the car attached to a track and go around in circles?
Looks like everyone had a great time!

Oh Dollywood is so much fun!

Have you done the Dixie Stampede before? Ella is old enough for sure. We are hoping to go to DS when we go in the spring.

Oh how I love my mountains!

As Diane said, I have the BEST motion sickness story... it's way too long for a comment. I will just have to tell it over on my blog in the next day or two... we will have to keep it on the DL, because I am pretty sure that Brian will kill me if he knows that one is gonna come up:)

Fun!! I love vacations like that. I've never been to Dollywood, but it's kind of on the list. We're going to Gatlinburg in October. Maybe we'll try to go then.

I am so glad seh warned you before the throw up -- My kids usually give me about a millisecond notice before it all comes back up.

Never been to Doolywood but I have heard it is pretty fun!! Sin't there a water park there too?

Well at least Ella made it out of the car before she got sick, unlike Emmerson's recent incident. I'd take holding hair back ANYday than having to smell it the whole way home. Yuck.
I like Evan's hat...darling. Ella looked like she had loads of fun driving around her daddy.
