How could THAT be beautiful?

I was headed to my friend's house the other day when I noticed a ton of smoke in the sky.

"What's burning?" I wondered.

The road I was on was leading me really close to it. I made a different turn than I would have if I hadn't been so curious...I get that from my dad...curious is a nice way of saying nosey. I really wanted to know what was on fire.

My turn led me to this view:

It's not uncommon, in these parts, for someone to be outside burning their trash...which is crazy...but that looks like a whole landfill is on fire. Or a field. Lord, don't let it be a house.

I got a little closer, but I still couldn't get close enough to see what it was. Seriously, it just looks like the ground is on fire. I just don't know.

I needed to get where I was going. I had to give up my quest. As I began to drive my new route, I noticed that the smoke was drifting right over the road I was now on. I was telling the children to look up to see the smoke through my sunroof...and when I joined them, my jaw dropped.

When I look at this picture, I am convinced that God's presence can be seen in the smallest (or biggest) things. His love shines right through the chaos of this life...isn't it amazing?

Isn't God awesome!

And btw--I have seen several houses on fire (lots of fires in our neck of the woods) and almost ALWAYS the smoke is pure black.

You do know that after the wheat is harvested they burn the stubble so they can plant another crop, right?
Not sure what they plant, but it will be something.
What a beautiful picture, though!

i bet it was part of harvesting...if you were in an agricultural area, it probably literally was the ground on fire...just routine part of harvesting for farmers...
