Five years ago today...part 1

I was working full-time...at a not-so-family-friendly company. (I found that out on the second day that I worked there. The sweet, retiring lady I was replacing felt it necessary to tell me that I'd never be able to have a family while I was working there. I cried in the bathroom that day...and wondered what I had gotten myself into.)

Back to the story...

I was 36 weeks pregnant. I was training my replacement...my last day was going to be the 12th. I left work for my 36 week appointment that morning. I was very, very swollen...my blood pressure was elevated. I had to lay around the doctor's office for a while to see if it would come down. It didn't. The bambino appeared to be doing fine...no signs of stress. The doctor felt my (huge) belly and decided that the baby was head down and ready to go....but it just wasn't time yet.

She sent me on my way...home. I was put on bedrest...no more work for momma!! (I always say that the baby was my ticket out of that company!!) I went back to work, packed up my stuff and told them to take this job and...nah I was done. My poor replacement...he didn't stand a chance; I left him high and dry. I made rounds to tell everyone goodbye and then I went home to 'rest' before I became a mom.

I was hoping to have at least a full week off work before baby girl came along...

I like the "hoping" in the last sentence there. We all know how that goes when little ones are concerned don't we!

Can't wait to hear the rest!

♥ I did the same thing with Emma well almost. Worked up until the day I had her... No bed rest though and I was training my replacement also! :)
