Answers for the Questions

Last week, I asked you to throw some questions at me. I got six questions (whew) and here are the answers!

1. If your husband has a large black head or zit on his back, do you like to pop it? ;) - Amy at in my life

Blech. I do NOT like to pop them, but I will...while wearing a face mask. I do not want that thing shooting me in the face!! Gag!

2. Name one dream, you have (had) for your life, that has yet to be fulfilled. - Brittany at Mommee and Her Boys

Ok, this is crazy. Not that this is some huge, ambitious dream, but it's something I want to do. I really want to ride in a hot air balloon. I would love to fly over lovely landscapes, but a plane wouldn't be the same...and since I can't be a bird, I figure a hot air balloon would do the trick.

3. a. practical question: if you could travel to anywhere in the world and stay a month where would it be?
b. ridiculous question: have you ever had to make a fairy princess wand out of a coat hanger and tin foil while you were sitting on the toilet? (I have)heehee - Mama Mia

a. I really want to travel to another continent...mostly Australia and Europe. There is so much that God's world has to offer...I want to see some of it!

b. Not yet, but maybe my day is coming!

4. What was your first date? How did hubby/you propose to you/him? I love hearing how people got together. - ispeakbeanish

We started dating on our second day of school as Juniors in highschool. Our first date, with my friend in tow, was to see a movie (Terminal Velocity). I can't remember when/what our first alone date was...

He asked for my father's blessing to propose, and on Christmas Eve 1999, he got down on one knee in front of my whole family and asked me to be his wife. Everybody cried. Happy tears are the best!

5. Have you ever been skinny dipping? - Jodi at Beacon of Hope

Not that I can recall. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

6. How do you find time to scrapbook? I never find the time and I only have one kid!! - Lizzie at My Amazing Grace and other adventures

I certainly don't find enough time to scrapbook. For a while, I had a set night or two per month just for scrapping, but it sort of fizzled out. In the past year, I've gotten the majority of my scrapping done at a bed & breakfast retreat called Cropical Paradise. I've been 3 times and I think I've done a total of 80 pages, give or take a few. I've said before that I should do stuff after the kids go to bed at night or during nap times...but I find that I have a hundred other things that must be done during those times. I need to get back to my set night...every other Friday night or just a certain Friday each month. A night that I know belongs to me!!

If you find a good routine, please share!

Ladies, thank you for the questions! It's fun to see what inquiring minds want to know. I had fun answering these. Let me encourage each of you to do your own Q&A session...it's fun to get to know you better!

Happy Friday!

Friday's Feast - Q&A

~~~~NOT!~~~~
I'm certain that I don't know the story behind the month and a half long leave taken by the Chef at Friday's Feast...but it's a bummer.
I looked forward to answering those, sometimes great-sometimes not, questions each week. I thought it was a rather entertaining way to help my bloggy friends get to know me better. Boo.
So I have an idea.
If you're game, post a question for me in my comments. I will do my best to answer all (tasteful) questions honestly. I don't think I have a plethora of risque readers, so I think I'm safe. But do remember, I won't answer anything that would make my Granny blush...she's a lurker!!
I'll compile and post my answers, perhaps Monday.
Have a fantastic Friday and a happy holiday weekend!
Friday's Feast
Appetizer
When was the last time you had your hair cut/trimmed?
This past Monday. And before that, two Thursdays earlier. I had about an inch cut off that time, but decided that it wasn’t enough, nor was it shaped the way I had in mind…so I let someone else cut it. Now I’m please as punch. Whatever that means!!
Soup
Name one thing you miss about being a child.
The responsibility of paying bills. I had lots of chores, so I had some responsibilities…but I do not like concerning myself with the bills.
Salad
Pick one: butter, margarine, olive oil.
Why isn’t LARD on the list??!? I usually use Parkway Zero Calorie Butter Spray. If not that, I use margarine.
Main Course
If you could learn another language, which one would you pick, and why?
I would choose to be fluent in Spanish since the Hispanic population is growing so rapidly…no matter the means, it’s happening.
Dessert
Finish this sentence: In 5 years I expect to be…
…five years older.
Grab another meal Here!
Friday's Feast
Appetizer
What is the weather like today where you live?
It was a Popsicle-eating, let’s-go-swimming or else just sit inside in the A/C kind of day. Actually, it was very pleasant this morning…then the sun started blazing. It was quite warm, but not unbearable like the past couple of days.
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?
My children are my career…so I should say 10…but that would make me Mother of the Year. I am so not Mother of the Year.
Salad
What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?
Call me crazy; I like to mix it up. I have valances, curtains and blinds…oh, and a little window in the front door that I painted to look like clear stained glass…just to blur the view.
Main Course
Name something that instantly cheers you up.
Smiling, happy, obedient children. And ice cream.
Dessert
How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?
Every now and then, I’ll give it a smack once…but never twice…that I remember.
More feasts served here!
Friday's Feast
Appetizer
If you could live on another continent for 1 year, which one would you choose?
I would choose Australia. I have always wanted to go there. I considered going there for a year of college…but I was sort of attached here at home, so I didn’t pursue it. I would love to take my kids so they could hang out with Bindi - The Jungle Girl…daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter. We love her little show!
Soup
Which browser do you use to surf the Internet?
Can't say I'm loyal to one or the other...I use both Yahoo and Google.
Salad
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you know about the history of your country?
Eek. I’ll say, er, 6? I have a terrible memory…I know lots of happenings, but I don’t remember dates. (hanging head in shame) Or the names of all the Presidents...
Main Course
Finish this sentence: Love is…
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Cor 13:4
Dessert
Have you ever been in or near a tornado?
I saw one in the distance when I was 8. I have not been personally affected, but oh my, how many families around me have. There have been several really bad occurrences in Jackson, TN, like this one in February.
Want more to chew on?
Fridays Feast
Appetizer
Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?
Depends. (learned that answer in college!) I’m an optimist about how much I love ice cream. I’m a pessimist about my weight. Funny though...I remember that I have a negative blood type by saying I'm the negative one in the relationship...hubby has a positive blood type.
Oh and it's Friday the 13th...and I'm not all freaked out. See. Optimist. I said it depends!
Soup
What is your favorite color of ink to write with?
Black. See. Pessimist.
Salad
How often do you get a manicure or pedicure? Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?
I paint my own toes all the time, but a couple times a year, I go pay for a pedicure. Manicure? Don’t you need nails for that? Actually, I just had a manicure on Memorial Day as part of my Mother's Day gift…and my nails have grown as a result. Now if I can just leave them alone…
Main Course
Have you ever won anything online? If so, what was it?
Not yet, but I keep trying. Uh oh. That’s optimism!!
Dessert
In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?
In the bonus room we have upstairs. Its 2/3 playroom with carpet and 1/3 office with linoleum tiles. Toys MUST stay on the carpet side!! I’ve recently rearranged my ‘office’ (which really just means that I put the CPU on the floor and moved another tall storage item off the desk), now it’s less claustrophobic. Love it!
Hungry for more??
Friday's Feast - My Very Own Dishes
The Chef at Friday's Feast is on 'vacation'...so I decided to do my own thing. I'm hoping to draw a little crowd of feasters...please let me know if you play along!
Appetizer: Wii, Playstation or XBox?
I have never played a Playstation or an XBox...we have a Wii! We bought it because we had a blast when we played with our friends. We picked up the new Wii Fit game Wednesday...it's still in the box. Thank goodness we have a holiday weekend...maybe we'll get Fit!
Soup: Would you ever go skydiving?
Years ago, my answer may have been yes...but now I have children so I'm a little less daring.
Salad: Name a sequel that you think is better than the original movie.
I'll be honest...this is my hubby's answer. He says that Return of the Jedi is much better than the original Star Wars.
Main Course: Share your most wonderful birthday celebration.
From age 11, I lived with only my dad. I never really had 'friend' birthday parties...only family. When I turned 16, I requested to have a slumber party. Dad said yes! I think I had four friends. After my basketball game that night, we had pizza and junk for dinner, then we went bowling. In the morning, we had Krispy Kreme donuts...and if you've never had those, you're missing out! My first slumber party...it was a blast!
Dessert: If you dare, post a picture of yourself making a silly face.
What was that I said about being daring?? This is as good as it gets, folks!!
Friday's Feast
Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?
The Home of the Blues, Elvis and tasty BBQ aka Memphis
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
Depends. From the husband = 1 From others = 8
Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
I would call my hair Auburn…it’s soft, doesn’t hold a curl very well…it’s short with layers in the back. See for yourself.
Main Course
What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
My how things have changed since I’ve had children. I used to be more aggressive, always blowing my horn at people…and I had many speeding tickets. In fact, my husband was used to the phrase ‘I have something to tell you’…that meant I got another ticket.
Now, I’d say I stay closer to the speed limit, but I can get anywhere quicker than my husband. I am courteous...the world would be nicer if everyone would let someone merge in front of them. Try it, it won't kill you! And I only use my horn when I’m about to get clobbered. Oh and I don’t yell so much or say things I used to about other drivers…there are little ears listening. Sometimes I call slow drivers ‘Grandma’ and my daughter asks me why. Sometimes I ask people to ‘please go’ so my son says that from time to time. You have to be very careful!
Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?
My bad weeks always happen when hubs is out of town. Something always goes wrong or someone gets sick and there is no break for mama. I usually have a pity-party…it includes lots of chocolate.
Still hungry??
Appetizer
When someone smiles at you, do you smile back?
Even if my mouth is full of food!
Soup
Describe the flooring in your home. Do you have carpet, hardwood, vinyl, a mix?
Carpet in bedrooms and den. Ugly linoleum in the kitchen. Decent looking linoleum in the bathrooms. Would probably redo it all if I could!
Salad
Write a sentence with only 5 words, but all of the words have to start with the first letter of your first name.
The tigers take turns typing.
Main Course
Do you know anyone whose life has been touched by adoption?
Yes, several!! One family had a baby girl in their home when the birth mother changed her mind. Weeks later, they were chosen to receive a little boy. It was a secret for a while…we were all ‘grieving’ the loss of the daughter, but surprise, there was a boy in store!! Praise God!
Dessert
Name 2 blue things
My eyes…and yes, I have two of them.
Go see more feasts!
Have a great weekend!!
Friday's Feast
Appetizer
What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child?
I’d have to say ‘The Smurfs’. I remember having a Smurf shirt, a Smurf necklace and Smurf underwear. OH!! And, my dad dressed up as Papa Smurf one year…hmmm…wonder if he has a picture of that…
Soup
Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it?
Since I have zero desire to have a pet, it would be a Chia pet named Hannah. A Chia pet because they don’t poop or make noise…very low maintenance. And Hannah just because that’s what my daughter names everything she has…every new doll, stuffed animal…everyone is named Hannah, and it makes me laugh.
Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?
Not something I’d like to do often…I despise pantyhose. I’ll say 5. I can take it or leave it. I had to dress up for formal night on our cruise last year. It was fun…but I haven’t gotten anywhere near fancy since my wedding.
Main Course
What kind of music do you listen to while you drive?
With kids in tow, I’m listening to Veggie Tales, Jana Alayra and Miss Pattycake. If ever I’m alone, I’m listening to Casting Crowns (REALLY loud), Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans or K-Love.
Dessert
When was the last time you bought a clock? And in which room did you put it?
Oh my. Hmmm... I believe I had to replace the alarm clock in our bedroom. Can’t remember now what happened to the old one…but I can assure you it wasn’t destroyed by me pounding on the snooze button, no way.
Soup
What color was the last piece of food you ate?
Pink – yummy strawberry/banana smoothie, made by my husband the Smoothie Guru
Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy being alone?
Since it’s rare, I’ll say it’s a 10 when it happens. So quiet, with no one to worry about but myself. Oh how rare that is…
Main Course
Fill in the blank: I will _________ vote for ___________ in _______.
I will not vote for a democrat in November.
Dessert
Describe your sleeping habits.
Pass out. Toss. Sleep. Turn. Slumber. Flip. Hug pillow. Snore.
Friday's Feast #9
Appetizer
Name a color you find soothing.
Chocolate brown. It is super soothing in the form of a Hershey bar, a Reese’s cup, hot fudge sauce, brownies…must I go on?
Soup
Using 20 or less words, describe your first driving experience.
With Dad. In a parking lot. Driving a ‘hoopty’ car. Think he was less scared than with my older brother.
Salad
What material is your favorite item of clothing made out of?
Cotton…should your ‘drawers’ be made out of anything but?
Main Course
Who is a great singer or musician who, if they were to come to your town for a concert, you would spend the night outside waiting for tickets to see?
I don’t think I would give up a night in my warm bed for anybody nowadays…too old for that. But if I was a teenager or a single person, I might do it for Tim McGraw or Keith Urban.
Dessert
What is the most frequent letter of the alphabet in your whole name (first, middle, maiden, last, etc.)?
It’s a big fat tie… 3 ‘I’s - 3 ‘R’s - 3 ‘L’s - 3 ‘E’s
P.S. Does the answer to this question really mean anything to anyone?
Go see more feasts!
Friday's Feast #8
Appetizer
What does the color dark green make you think of?
Trees, moss, the shutters on my house, my front door, and how, at one time, everyone decorated with dark green, navy and burgundy. Or maybe just me and my nerdy friends.
Soup
How many cousins do you have?
Four…I'm refraining from making a rude comment about being from Arkansas...that would just not be nice.
Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how honest are you?
9.99…I may exaggerate thing sometimes to get a point across. OR underestimate the amount of chocolate I REALLY had in a day.
Dessert
Using the letters in the word SPRING, write a sentence.
Some people run in New Guinea.
Uh.
Sometimes, people rot in nasty grass.
Ok, that’s enough.
That was fun!!
Friday's Feast #7
Appetizer
Given the choice, would you prefer to live in the country or in the city?
Completely depends on what city. I’m in a city now and it’s not nearly as bad as the city ‘next door’. I'm close to the country...and space away from people can be good, but having a huge yard to mow is way too much work for us two non-yard-work-lovin' people.
Soup
Who is the cutest kid you know?
There’s this kid down the street, what??!!? Seriously!? Any mother is going to say ‘mine’!! And that certainly goes for me!
Salad
Fill in the blank: I couldn’t believe it when I heard ___________.
...that the mayor of Memphis is going to resign…all I can say is that it’s L-O-N-G overdue buddy!!
Main Course
If you could star in a commercial for one of your favorite products, which one would you want to advertise?
Not because I’m super smitten with the product, it’s good, but I think it would just be fun to be in one of those Orbit commercials…you know…’Orbit cleans a dirty mouth' [Teeth Gleaming with a sound effect -*BLING*]
Dessert
What type(s) of vitamins and/or supplements do you take on a regular basis?
If I tell you, I’d have to…blah. Nada. I take nothing.
Friday's Feast #6
Appetizer
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how much do you like your own handwriting?
On cards/letters, it’s a 10. In my check book register, it’s a 4…guess I don’t like to write down what I’ve spent!
Soup
Do you prefer baths or showers?
Showers. I just don’t have time for a bath…if I’m going to run all that water, I'd like to soak in it for a while…no time for that.
Salad
What was the last bad movie you watched?
Define bad. R-rated? I don’t watch those. Bad, as in ‘wish I hadn’t wasted my time’? Hmm...you may disagree with me here, but I could not get into the third Pirates of the Caribbean. It just seemed beyond 'hokey' to me.
Main Course
Name something you are addicted to and describe how it affects your life.
Avon’s Strawberry Lip Balm. A very goofy addiction. When I buy it, it’s usually on sale for $.69…I buy 15 or 20. I keep them in my purse, my pocket, my bathroom and in my Bible cover. If I discover that I have somehow left the house without one on hand, I get very upset. It just about ruins my day. I swear, there must be some sort of drug in that stuff. My husband once sent me a link to Lip Balmers Anonymous.
Dessert
Which instrument is your favorite to listen to?
I’m cheating on this one b/c I’m not sure I can pick just one instrument. Get ready to call me a dork. My dad and I are the only people I know of who like Yanni. (my husband, no way) Ever heard of him? Well, he is an amazing composer that we first saw on a PBS special long ago. We got his CD and blasted it throughout the house…it’s a great memory. Here comes even more dorkiness. When I was 20, I had my wisdom teeth cut out…that didn’t stop me from driving to Little Rock with my dad to see Yanni in concert. Huh…I haven’t listened to him in a while…must go find that CD.
Friday's Feast #5
Appetizer
If you could be any current celebrity for one whole week, who would you want to be?
Warren Buffet…just topped the Forbes list of the Richest Americans…I would transfer a mere Billion dollars to the account of a certain family in Tennessee.
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you enjoy talking on the phone?
You know, it REALLY depends on who I’m talking to…sometimes I’d say 1, but it’s a 10 for talking to my best friend.
Salad
Name a charitable organization to which you have donated (or would like to).
We give regularly to our church…but I’d love to also give money to March of Dimes, Make-A-Wish and the Ronald McDonald House. (I could be especially generous if I had that Billion $$)
Main Course
What is a food you like so much you could eat it every single day for a month?
Absolutely, without a doubt, the answer for me is ice cream. You don’t even have to be hungry to eat ice cream…it fills in the gaps that your dinner left!!
***Mrs. Anonymous wanted to know where I got the rationale about the ice cream...so let me not take credit for this comment...Ruby Turner says, 'You don't have to be hungry for ice cream, it fits in the cracks!'***
Dessert
Have you or anyone in your family had the flu this year?
If I answer this, I will jinx myself and my family. Thanks.
Friday Feast #4
Appetizer
Who was the last person you hugged?
I hugged my son Evan as I put him to bed…he’s a great hugger.
Soup
Share a beauty or grooming trick or tip with us.
Do you have hair breaking off right in the front middle of your head?? Do you wrap your hair in a towel after you shower? Stop it! I had many little hairs that always seemed to stick straight up…never going the direction I desired. I read somewhere that I was causing the hairs to break because I wrapped my hair in a towel after a shower…you know, the ‘gather-the-towel-in-the-front-twist-and-flip-back’ move. It pulls/breaks your hair right where you’re twisting. Now I just overlap the two sides of the towel and flip it over. No more tiny, unruly hairs! Try it!
Salad
What does the color yellow make you think of?
A brick road, sunshine, raincoats and Big Bird.
Main Course
If you were to make your living as a photographer, what subject would your pictures revolve around?
Baby feet…a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e.
Dessert
What was the longest book you ever read?
Green Eggs and Ham
Kidding.
‘The Firm’ and ‘Pelican Brief’ by John Grisham
P.S. Happy Leap Day!! :)
Friday's Feast - #3
Appetizer
Have you ever played a practical joke on anyone? If so, what did you do and who was your victim?
I haven’t done anything worth posting…but my dad got me bad once...I had just gotten away from my mom’s and had only been living with my dad for a few months when he woke me up one morning and told me the courts said I had to go back to live with my mom…I started boo-hooing and dad figured out real quick that it wasn’t funny. I think he still feels bad till this day.
Soup
What do your salt and pepper shakers look like?
Like boring, little mason jar mugs.
Salad
Where is the next place you plan to visit (on vacation or business)?
I’m pretty sure my next trip will be across the state to visit some friends.
Main Course
What kind of lotion or cream do you use to keep your hands from getting too dry?
Is there a lotion that actually works? I'm using Avon Moisture Rich, but I still have very dry finger tips and cuticles.
Dessert
Make up a dessert, tell us its ingredients, and give it a name.
36 Moon Pies, 1 Gallon Chocolate Syrup, 2 Quarts Marshmallow Fluff and 1 Maraschino Cherry
Arrange pies into a pyramid. Glob on Marshmallow Fluff. Drown with Chocolate Syrup. Top with cherry.
I call it: Instant Diabetes
What is your favorite kind of cereal?
Lucky Charms, they're magically delicious, not-so-magically stuck to my hips!
Soup
When was the last time you purchased something for your home, what was it, and in which room did it go?
We bought a 50” Plasma for our living room back in November.
Salad
What is the funniest commercial you’ve ever seen?
There are SO many!! I love all the Sonic commercials. ESPN makes some good ones…the one they’re running right now with the Manning brothers cracks me up (and gives me the heebie-jeebies b/c Eli gives Peyton a wet-willy and that’s DISGUSTING!)
Main Course
Make up a name for a company by using a spice and an animal (example: Cinnamon Monkey).
Peppermint Platypus
Dessert
Fill in the blank: I haven’t ______ since ______.
I haven’t nursed a baby since October of 2006!
Friday's Feast - my first
***Those of you looking for my feast for Feb 22nd can click here. I goofed up the link on FF, sorry! Thanks for coming by!***
I'm going to try out something new. I thought I'd follow Fresh Girl and participate in a little thing called Friday's Feast. It's a 'meal' of five random questions 'served' to help you get to know me better.
Here goes:
Appetizer
How many times per day do you usually laugh?
Not sure of a number - but I laugh as much as possible. I have a husband who is a genius at making me laugh. And the kids...I'm very entertained by them...and I'm learning to find more humor in the things they do.
Soup
What do your sunglasses look like?
They are my 2nd pair of prescription sunglasses. Just the basic, dark, 'squoval' shape with sort of multi-colored-brownish arms.
Salad
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go?
I think I'd have to go in a circle...to see the New England area, the Great Lakes, the Rockies and the Rio Grande.
Main Course
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city.
It's a huge quality to not have to deal with the problems/politics of the city/county next door!!
Dessert
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best?
How about the colors of the perfect sunset...oranges...dreamy.
There you have it.
Need more feasts?
