What it looks like to turn 5...

This was by far the smallest birthday party we've done. It was also the first party we've done in our little house...but it was only because it was the smallest party.

Ella - awaiting the arrival of her guests. Our family and friends.

Silly Mom with silly brother.

Pre-party snuggling with Mom. (you've seen this one, but it's too cute)

A healthy dinner = Pizza and chips and dip.

Ella's friend 'A'

Ella's friend 'R' - not a sleepover guest...her family is our 'family'...and her mommy had to bring the cake!!

Ella's brother 'E'...whatever, it's Evan.

Our friend 'B' - poor guy...only Evan to play with. He came with the cake...and went home with the baker.

The Cake = A 'Sleepover' Cake.

I found this cake online...two days before the party and asked my best friend to make it. I think she did a terrific job!! The 'girls' are Twinkies. The heads are Vanilla Wafers...with Marshmallows for pillows. It's just cute...and uncommon. Yay for uncommon!

Ella's silly Dad - having too much fun with a 'pillow'.

Time for Gifts!!

"I got Dollars!!!!"

"...And Horse stuff!!!!"

And clothes. And a Barbie. And more *clothes. And *tee ball gear. And a *Wii game. And a *movie. (*from mom and dad)

The girls (well...Evan too) made princess wands.

Aren't these girls delicious?!?!

Bedtime was so cute. The girls and I camped out upstairs in the playroom. They were so very giggly...but soon got quiet and slept very well. They really enjoyed themselves!

The party was a success!

Ella kept asking to invite more and more little girls. I limited her to three. When only one ended up being able to come, I felt horrible. I wished I had let her invite the 2 or 3 other friends she mentioned...ah well. Maybe next time.

It feels good to be done planning the party...and not have another one to plan until October!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is a big day for Miss Ella. We have to prepare for Kindergarten with those pesky shots they require. We've told her where we're going...and she's been very brave. "I'll do my best, Mom." Such a big girl. I just pray that she finds that same bravery when we pull into the parking lot at the doctor's office!!!
We won't have little brother (thanks Chris!) so Daddy and I are taking her to lunch and Build A Bear after the not-so-fun stuff is over. She's the kid who will remember this forever...I want there to be a little icing on the burnt cake.
Your cake was beautiful! I loved it! Did you know you can turn your blog into a book? That might be a neat way to commemorate your kids' birthdays and stuff.
Have a great day Tina!
That cake is adorable! Looks like Ella and 'A' had a great time.
I know there will be some tough stuff today, but there will also be things to look back and remember fondly. Focus on those things, and the day will be a good memory. Just don't forget to give that baby some tylenol, maybe even before the ouchies.
Awe that is so cute!! Alex wanted a family tea party for her 5th. I was worried that she wouldn't have much fun with so many grown-ups and so little kids but she loved it!!
That picture of the girls in bed is so cute! How wonderful to be a child and have that excitement of a friend sleeping over and whispering to each other in bed!
That is a great cake! What a fun party. I love her hair! I might just attempt that on one of my daughters. Five is such a big birthday! Good luck with the kindergarten preparing. Good thing there's a cute little bear involved!
