Thanksgiving was a success!

I wrote out my menu.

I wrote out the cooking time and tempature for each item.

I wrote out what time I needed to start preparing each item.

With the exception of the dressing, everything turned out perfectly!

The dressing was a crockpot recipe which called for four hours of slow cooking...it did not get done. I probably should've checked on it more than I did and I could've turned it up, but we just popped it into the oven to finish it off and my sweet family ate it graciously.

My aunt and grandmother prepared the desserts...which were divine, as always...there was NO way I was going to tackle desserts...spoiling that part of the meal just isn't acceptable!

We played a few games after dinner, but not as many as we normally do...we did a lot of lounging and we thumbed through the sale papers...a really calm day...and sunny & beautiful! I didn't find anything in said sale papers that I couldn't live without...so I slept in Friday morning. We finally ventured out at about 2pm for a few things, but not 'hot' items. Also, Walmart was dead at 8:30pm when I went out for more things to go on my Christmas tree. I'm so happy I missed out on the crazy crowds of the early morning!

I'm so glad that we were finally able to host our family...and use the china that's been boxed up for so long.

How was your Thanksgiving!?

Thanksgiving was peaceful Tina! Although I should have doubled some of my recipes! What is it with boys and food? No I did not do Black Friday, I would have to drive 50 mins. to the city to get anything decent. I did once when I was first married and decided people are crazy and the traffic and lines weren't worth the headaches.

On Thanksgiving Day, I cooked a yummy breakfast of biscuits, gravy, bacon, and scrambled eggs to eat with some fresh fruit. Then we lounged and looked at sale websites for a few hours and ran out to see A Christmas Carol in 3D with the kids. Next we....

Glad your Thanksgiving went well! And in a new home no less. I didn't do the black Friday thing either. So glad. And I think you're posting pretty well considering you've just moved in and it's Christmas time and all!

I have never actually cooked a Thanksgiving meal...I wonder how long I can get by with that? :)
