Waiting...it's not so easy

The first time we ever put our house on the market was fall of 2006. It was only on the market for a few months...when the holidays came, I was over it. I did not want to try to be all spic-n-span with two toddlers during Christmas. We took the house off the market and decided we may try again in the spring.

When spring rolled around, we decided that we may benefit more financially if we waited a whole year longer to pay down some debt and owe that much less on our mortgage. So we waited.

Spring of 2008 rolled around...and boy was momma ready to sell and upgrade. We had one goofy realtor...I'm not sure that I know a good one anymore...and by good, I mean trustworthy and willing to work to sell your home. But whatever. We toughed out a six-month contract with that lady and we were off the market as of August.

Now...and even then...the market is not so good. We get that. But we still want to sell b/c it's the perfect time to be a BUYER.

But we'll probably suffer a little as the SELLER. We won't get what we would've wanted the first time we listed...or even the second time.

And it should probably bother me a whole lot more than it does...but really...I just want to get a new house already!!!

Our financial situation is truly a blessing...and when we sell, we will make a nice hunk of money...but every little bit less that we take just eats up that nest-egg-waiting-to-happen.

We thought we'd build in a certain area...and everything that we've tried so far to get us in that area has fallen short of success.

So...are we not supposed to live in that area? Is it because the children aren't supposed to go to that school? What is it?

We found this one house a while back. It would put us in a great location, but when we first saw it, we thought it was way overpriced. Well...the price dropped a TON...and so we're trying to see if we can sell so we can get this house.

And, we've pretty much decided that if THIS door is slammed shut, we will no longer look for a new home in that area. We'll move on. Move on to probably another county, which would change plans for school in the fall...but maybe that's what God has been trying to get us to do anyway.

Maybe if we had been looking to do THAT all along, it would've happened in the fall of 2006.

Only God knows...

Maybe He'll share His plans soon.

Hi Tina! I know it's hard waiting on the Lord, but just remember that His timing is not our timing.

HUGS,
Alicia

When I got laid off in 2002 and became a SAHM to my then 9 month old son, we put our house on the market and prayed and prayed and prayed and nothing happened.

Then after 9 months with only a few showings and zero offers we took the house off the market.

And we muddled through. Financially everything was ok for us and we just assumed we were supposed to stay put.

About a year later my husband's company told him they wanted him to move to Mexico for a year and after that year, they would TRY to find another job with him in that company but they couldn't guarantee anything.

We immediately started praying. Dan found a job in my old hometown in less than 1 month. We put our house on the market and in THREE WEEKS we got two offers AT ASKING PRICE on the same day.

The new company paid for our move (which happened to be right beside my parents) and a whole lot of other stuff (closing costs, realtor fees, etc.).

I know in my heart that we are supposed to be right here now. And I now that if our house had sold the first time and we had moved we would have paid a ton of moving costs, closing costs, etc. And we wouldn't be here now and we would be worse off financially. Perhaps even out of a job because my husband would have probably decided to stay with his old company which has since been sold and gone through several massive lay-offs.

Sorry for the long and rambling comment. I guess my point is to keep praying and hang in there and know that God has a plan for you.

This is one of my weaknesses, too. I want everything right now, and the way *I* want it. The Lord WILL come through! He will place you in the right place, and at the right time. This post is encouragement to me, too. It's a reminder to me, that sometimes waiting is the best way.
Where you live, right now, where I live, right now, it's all apart of His great big, wonderful plan. AND that is comforting!! :) HUGS! I'll be praying for you!

Well, I learned the hard way last time that I will NEVER recommend a realtor again!

I guess the fact is that God sells the house, not the realtor. It was God's timing that sold ours, not what's-her-name's. I thought she did a good job, and that's why I recommended her. But there's no accounting for God's timing, is there?

I feel your pain in the house selling area. Nothing like two house payments (which is what we have!!!)

Be patient God always lets us know what we are suppossed to do, it is whether or not we are listing to get the answer! Good luck!

Haven't seen you in awhile at my blog -- hope all is well with you and you are not too busy!

its so hard to be in tune with what Heavenly Father wants, when we have our own wants. Good luck with that. I have a house I needed to sell a year ago but its still not completly touched up yet. hopefully soon. I so need to sell it NOW

We put a FSBO sign in our front yard last night. We're ready to sell, sell, sell too!

I know what you mean.

Slap a For Sale by Owner sign in your yard and see what happens.
In this economy people may be willing to cut out the middle man to save money.
Diane's right. God sells the house, not the realtor. Been there.
Hang in there, we usually can't see Gods hand until afterwards when we look back.
Thankfully he sees it all.

♥ We tried several house before we decided on this one and what we "thought" was the house for us never was until this one and everything just wen throught really well even with the time frame thing we wanted to be a house NOW but it was meant to be that we waited it out a little while longer even though we were away from Joe for that much longer. It was better finacially and we like the school much better with this house also. I fully believe that when it's right we'll know because everything will just fall into place! :)

I hope you see the direction He wants for you. The waiting is hard! We're actually about to see what we can get pre-qualified for with the goal of buying our first house this summer! Any words of wisdom for us rookies?

I'm still praying for you guys. I know you're itching to get in your adult house and His plan will be revealed to where your children will be going to school. :) Hopefully it's in Bartlett though. Hey! I can be selfish!
